| HUNGARY
Hungary is mainly a flat low land surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains in Romania and the mountain systems in Slovakia and Austria. This condition makes the country highly vulnerable to flooding and dependent on the water management of the neighbor countries. Hungary has two principal rivers: the Danube and the Tisza. Not only is water brought into the country, but also water contaminants. This is another reason why international agreements and cooperation is required to guarantee an adequate water quality. |
