ESS Facilities

The experimental facilities at IIHR offer state-of-the-art, in-house capabilities for both physical modeling and experimentation. This permits varying, yet complementary, approaches for investigation and solution of a wide variety of flow problems.

The research facilities of IIHR include many hydraulics flumes, air- and water-flow units, and more routine experimental apparatus and instruments, as well as specialized facilities.  They are housed in several IIHR buildings in the Iowa City/Coralville area, and at the Lucille A. Carver Mississippi Riverside Environmental Research Station (LACMRERS), a state-of-the-art research facility set alongside the Mississippi River.
