Jan 1, 2014 – Wednesday

After a night of rest, we got up to tour the city of Delhi.  Our ititnerary was to see the Lodhi Gardens, Humayun’s Tomb, and Qutab Minar.

Lodhi Gardens was very pretty with different types of flowers and vegetation and a butterfly garden and different sculptures.  All the trashcans were decoratively painted so everyone posed with a favorite.  Humayun’s Tomb was built by his wife and 100 other people ended up being buried in that same tomb area.  It was very beautiful with blue tile accents and intricate window screens.  Qutab Minar is a large tower that was built in a mosque and school area.  It is a red stone color with Koran inscriptions on the side of it.

We are like celebrities when we go visit some of the sights in Delhi.  People asked to take pictures with us so many times!  I don’t know how celebrities do it.  It’s kind of became a game to see who in our group is going to be asked for a picture first when we go somewhere.

For dinner, we went to an outdoor shopping mall called Galleria with more character than your typical mall.  It is two levels and has lots of food stands and restaurants, and a lighted water fountain at night.  We tried payesh, a chai flavored rice dessert dish that is amazing.
