| An important and open question is whether it is in fact possible to integrate the various technologies - wireless sensors, motes, the internet and the web, cellular modems, relational databases, and so on - with existing scientific instruments and models in an end-to-end system that furthers scientific investigation in the geo- and environmental sciences. We test this by augmenting existing and emerging geo- and cyberinfrastructure at the University of Iowa, and construct and operate an end-to-end environmental sensing network for an extended period. | |
