LACMRERS  Progress

IIHR’s Lucille A. Carver Mississippi Riverside Environmental Research Station (LACMRERS) is under construction along the Mississippi River just upstream from Muscatine, Iowa.  It is scheduled for completion in early spring of 2002.  The LACMRERS building is a 7,000 sq. ft. structure that will comprise offices, classrooms, and laboratory space.  It will enable IIHR to develop unique educational and research programs focusing on river ecology.  It is envisioned that researchers and educators from many disciplines and users with varying interest in the river will come together here to approach problem solving and river research in a holistic way, with one common purpose:  To ensure the health and future of the nation’s greatest waterway—the Mississippi River.
