The mission of Research Computing Services (RCS) is to provide innovative, contemporary and accessible technology in research computing services to enable the students, faculty and staff of IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering (IIHR) to effectively meet their goals of a research oriented learning community. RCS works collaboratively with the campus IT community to provide technological leadership which emphasizes empowerment of the individual through the use of technology.
IIHR is critically dependent on information technology specifically oriented and adapted to support its primary mission of research and service within the context of a broader University environment. This technology touches every aspect of IIHR’s activities, from teaching and learning to support of complex research projects to daily administrative activities.
The goal of RCS is to enhance productivity and communications within the IIHR research community by providing computer support and a variety of services not readily available to our researchers from other campus sources.
To accomplish this mission, RCS provides computing infrastructure services to the IIHR community through the provisioning of computing hardware, software, facilities and services. These services include: 24×7 secure data center facilities operation; scientific application systems processing and scheduling; server and storage provisioning; data archival, backup and recovery; security and systems integration services; high throughput messaging systems; high performance computing facilities; and expert consulting in the areas of research computing, systems administration, systems and network security, and systems integration.
