Hydrogeologist/Research Assistant

IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering and the Iowa Geological Survey, THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA, have an opening for a Hydrogeologist/Research Assistant in the field of geology. The successful candidate will contribute to the research mission of IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering and the Iowa Geological Survey by providing assistance to research hydrogeologists and hydrologists with field and laboratory work.  S/he will also respond to research requests and support the research activities of other IGS geologists as needed. This is a 1-year specified term position.


Bachelor’s degree in geology, engineering, water resources, or a closely related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Working experience or coursework with ArcGIS and databases, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a research environment, ability to travel in surrounding geographic area, hold a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards are also required. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
