Celebrating Prof. Witold Krajewski’s Retirement as Iowa Flood Center Director

June 26

Witek Krajewski

Please help us celebrate Professor Witold Krajewski’s retirement as Iowa Flood Center (IFC) director! Witek has served as the visionary leader guiding the Iowa Flood Center’s success over the past 15 years. To honor his contributions and impacts on improving Iowa’s flood resiliency and advancing scientific discovery and innovation for the broader water resources engineering community, a series of events will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, details below.

*Important Update: We’re thrilled by the support and interest in Professor Krajewski’s retirement celebration! Because of the overwhelming number of people we’re expecting, the morning Iowa Flood Center meeting has moved locations to the Seaman’s Center for the Engineering Arts and Sciences building (classroom 3655).

8:30 a.m.–11:30            A special IFC meeting will be held at the Seaman’s Center (103 S. Capitol St., Iowa City, IA 52240) featuring reflections from Professor Krajewski on the past, present, and future of the Iowa Flood Center, as well as additional remarks from close friends and colleagues. The meeting will conclude with a presentation by Professor James Smith, faculty emeritus at Princeton University, titled, “How Hard Can it Rain?” examining rainfall extremes in a warming climate. A light breakfast, coffee, and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP for the morning IFC meeting by June 10.

The closest available public parking is the Capitol Street Parking Ramp (220 S. Capitol St., Iowa City, IA 52240) located directly adjacent to the Seaman’s Center.

Everyone is welcome to participate or observe. Street parking is available, though carpooling is encouraged.
