Welcome!
Hi everybody and welcome!
My name is Gabriele Villarini, and this is my professional website.
In July 2008, I finished my Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Iowa under the supervision of Prof. Witold Krajewski. After graduation, I worked as a researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University with Prof. James Smith. I received my Executive MBA and Certificate in Leadership by the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa in May 2018.
I am currently a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Iowa, and the Director of IIHR-Hydroscience & Engineering. I am also the Robert & Virginia Wheeler Faculty Fellow in Engineering and the Editor-in-Chief for Advances in Water Resources. My research group broadly focuses on flood hydrology, extreme events, hydroclimatology, and climate predictions and projections. I am a member of the Iowa Flood Center, which is the only university-based center devoted solely to flood-related research and education.
You can find here a list of opportunities within my research group. If you have questions, feel free to email me at “gabriele-villarini at uiowa.edu”
