Species Suitability Indices

Habitat studies evaluate a particular ecosystem to define whether or not it is suitable for a particular species to survive. The studies use biological and hydrodynamic parameters to characterize optimal conditions for a species’ survival.

The figure below shows one of the parameters that describes Habitat Suitability for vegetation in Pool 8 in the Mississippi River.
