IIHR Webcams

IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering is a world-renowned center for fluids-centered research, education, and public service. Based in the C. Maxwell Stanley Hydraulics Laboratory on the banks of the Iowa River, IIHR is a unit of the University of Iowa’s College of Engineering. Students and researchers come to IIHR from around the world to benefit from the center’s comprehensive multidisciplinary approach, which includes lab experiments, computational approaches, and observational field research.

IIHR’s webcams capture live views of the campus and the beautiful Iowa River, which is central to city and university life. You may even spot an eagle during the winter months when they congregate near the dam just outside the Stanley Hydraulics Lab!

#FridayFun! IIHR Director @DrGVillarini grabs a selfie with staff and students at a recent outing to LACMRERS, the Lucille A. Carver Mississippi River Research Station. A good time was had! More about LACMRERS: @IowaFloodCenter

Check out this cool collaboration between @IIHRUIowa and @UIowaPM, "A Century of IIHR Research on the Mississippi River" in conjunction with their centennial exhibit at the Old Capitol Museum. #UIowaResearch

Fascinating talk by @IowaGeoSurvey 's Phil Kerr today at the @IowaFloodCenter meeting! Phil says his philosophy of "when in doubt, map it out" led him to map some 2,500 sand dunes in Eastern Iowa! Understanding the landscape can lead to better flood forecasting. @DrGVillarini
