Exhibition Spotlight: A Century of IIHR Research on the Mississippi River (Part 2)

IIHR’s work on the Mississippi River dates to the 1920s, when researchers set out to measure the flow of the river just upstream of the Keokuk Dam (now part of Lock and Dam No. 19) at Keokuk, Iowa. IIHR Director Floyd Nagler also modeled the dam’s spillways for the Mississippi River Power Company.

Cover Crop and Saturated Buffer Field Day to Be Held Near Walcott Nov. 17

IIHR-Hydroscience and Engineering, along with Iowa Learning Farms, the Iowa Nutrient Research Center, Iowa Geological Survey and Partners of Scott County Watersheds will host a cover crop field day on Wednesday, Nov. 17 from 12-2 p.m. at Mike Paustian’s farm near Walcott. The event is free, open to the whole family and includes a complimentary meal.

IFC Legislative Breakfast

IFC students, staff, and researchers will host their annual legislative breakfast reception on Tuesday, April 5 from 7-9 am at the Iowa State Capitol building in the first floor rotunda. Legislators and partners are invited to attend a light breakfast and visit with IFC experts about innovative projects providing a direct benefit to help Iowans understand and reduce their flood risk.
